Important How To Tips For Women

Elizabeth City, NC – It can be very unsafe to break down by yourself in an unfamiliar or secluded area if you’re a woman.  But knowing some of these important how to tips for women ahead of time can really help you stay prepared and safe.

Battery Cables & Connectors
Important How To Tips For WomenOver a long period of time you could find that there is a fuzzy green material covering your battery.  Don’t touch it unless you have protective eyewear and gloves because what you’re looking at is battery acid.  This is easily taken care of though, just pour a little bit of Coca Cola on the green areas.  If the fuzz doesn’t go away then you’ll have to remove the cables and scrub them with a wire brush (which can be found at any hardware store).

Brakes
It’s always a good idea to dry your brakes off on rainy days when you can’t avoid puddles.  To do this, you have to accelerate slowly while braking.  Another thing to remember is that you should never use your brakes when going over a pothole, it can damage your suspension.

Overheated CarIf Your Vehicle Overheats
In the event that your vehicle begins to overheat you’ll need to bring all of the heat away from the engine by turning the heat on full blast.  Coasting in your car can help as well if you are not able to pull over right away.  If you’re at a light or stopped somewhere for more than 90 seconds then switch your vehicle into neutral.  Remember to never remove the radiator cap when your engine is hot!

Extra Tips To Help You Out!
Always keep an emergency kit in your car containing a flashlight with batteries, a blanket, water, a nutrition bar and always be sure to bring a cell phone that is fully charged.

If for whatever reason your vehicle smells bad, you can erase the scent by placing dryer sheets in numerous nooks and crannies in your car.  Leave them in there until you no longer notice an unpleasant smells.

Tips and Tricks for vehiclesDriving on a windy day can be a little scary sometimes, especially when you can feel the wind pushing against your car while you’re on the highway.  Try rolling down your rear windows a bit, this should allow the air to flow through rather than against your vehicle.
