Tips for Carving Pumpkins

Tips for Carving Pumpkins
ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Fall has arrived and Halloween is just around the corner! Stores are stocked with costumes and it's almost time to carve your yearly pumpkin, so your Elizabeth City Car Dealer has gathered up some useful quick Tips for Carving Pumpkins this year.

Tips for Carving Pumpkins:
-Once you decide on a design, you can draw or print it out to create a pattern and then use a marker to trace the design onto the pumpkin.

Tips for Carving Pumpkins-Clean the Pumpkin: Cut off the top, bottom, or try out the method pictured to make things a little easier. When cleaning out the "guts" avoid digging too deep into the bottom of the pumpkin because the pumpkin will become prone to rotting.

-Begin Carving: Start carving at the center of your design, working your way outward. An X-Acto knife or the tip of a potato peeler can be used to make small details.

- If you accidentally make a mistake on your jack-o-lantern, you can reattach sections by using a toothpick to pin it back in place.

-After all your hard work carving pumpkins, a great tip to prolong their life is to seal in moisture by coating all cut surfaces with petroleum jelly or vegetable oil.

- Put your Pumpkin on Display: A small battery-operated flameless candle is a safer alterative to traditional candles for lighting your pumpkin. For a festive scent, sprinkle cinnamon, nutmeg or cloves on the underside of the pumpkin lid!
