2013 is almost here, and the pressure to have a great New Year’s Eve event is
on. Everyone want to kick off the
new year with a bang, but more often than not a big night out at the club or a
quiet night at home ends up being less than memorable. So in order to really
get your year off on the right foot, we are showing you seven tips for a great New Year’s Eve party!
Host a potluck dinner
Having a potluck dinner is a great way to spend time with
friends and family. Since everyone
is bringing a dish there should not only be plenty of food for the evening, but
also less stress on you to provide a huge meal for 10-20 people!
Make sure to have champagne
on hand
A champagne toast at midnight is almost synonymous with New
Years Eve, and if you are planning on having a party it is expected that you
provide your guest with a toast to bring in the New Year (or have someone else
do it as their potluck dish). If
any under-aged guests will be at your party, make sure to get some sparkling
grape juice or non-alcoholic champagne to include them in on the festivities.
Have a theme
If you want your party to really stand out you will need a
theme. This can be as easy as a
color scheme for you napkins and tablecloth, or as complex having a “Golden Age
of Hollywood” party and having all your guests dressed as old-time movie
stars. The amount of effort you
want to put in is up to you.
Make a list
Make a list of everything you have to do, and need to buy a
week before your party. The list should include dinner ingredients, snacks,
decorations, what others will be bringing and everything else you will need for
the party. This way you will have a clear head and plenty of time to add to the
list as you remember things you will need. The last thing you want is to remember that you forgot to
get something at 10 PM when all the stores are closed.
Don’t forget party
favors
Everyone loves party poppers, noisemakers, silly hats, and
all the staples of a New Year’s Eve celebration. Make sure you get extra in case you have more guests than
you expect.
Have a designated
driver
If you plan on having alcohol at your party this is a must!
Either have a friend that doesn’t drink be the designated driver, or find the
number of a local taxi service and prearrange a pickup for your guests before
the party even starts, as New Year’s is a busy time for taxi services.
Have Fun!
There’s no point in having a party if your not going to enjoy yourself. Since you are planning everything out in advance though, you should have no problem enjoying the start of 2013!
Don’t forget that before your party and the 2013 year starts to
