2014 Chevrolet Impala Review

2014 Chevrolet Impala Review

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The newest Chevrolet Impala is about to hit the market, and the question remains if the redesign will be able to break the vehicle's rental car stereotype. After reviewing the 10th generation Impala, we believe it does just that! This 2014 Chevrolet Impala Review reveals an updated stylish exterior, modern underpinnings, and redesigned furnishings, while keeping Chevy's traditional value central to all changes.

The large car segment is a half-million-cars-per-year segment and the 2014 Chevy Impala fights for a share of the segment with three trim levels, wheel sizes, and engines, as well as additional options to compete against domestic and imported rivals. The 2014 Impala offers effective solutions to previous model flaws while keeping the price range from just below $30,000 to over $40,000 with more options.

The greatest change includes the 20-plus-year-old W-platform being replaced by the long version of the Opel-designed Global Epsilon chassis. Not to mention the obvious updates to exterior styling. But the updates aren't restricted to the exterior. Inside, passengers enjoy a net gain of 5.7 inches in combined front and rear leg room over the current model. With more leg room, the next-generation Impala appeals to adult trips. So while climate and entertainment controls are unavailable in the rear, the 40/60 folding backrests and 18.8 cubic feet of trunk space accomodate home projects and road trip needs.

Chevy MyLink technology is currently available in other models, but the second-gen MyLink system is the first to be installed in the Chevy Impala. An optional 8-inch touch screen features Bluetooth technology, natural voice recognition, and static movie play capability. In addition to dashboard and steering wheels controls for entertainment and climate, input gestures include the option to swipe, flick, click, or drag. The high resolution 3D navigation mapping helps to keep you on track while your belongings stay safe with the 2014 Chevrolet Impala's special PIN-activated storage bin located behind the touch screen.

Performance specifications include an optional 3.6-liter aluminum V6 engine that offers 305 horsepower while maintaining 29 mpg on the highway. Improve fuel efficiency becomes available with the two four-cylinder engines that look to achieve over 30 mpg; a 2.4-liter with eAssist mild hybridization and a 196 horsepower 2.5-liter. Plus, with acoustic laminated glass, triple door seals, and cavity baffles, it's possible that this may be the quietest Chevy ever. As always, you'll stay safe out on the road with unmatched safety gear including four-direction alerts, adaptive cruise control, automatic collision-avoiding brakes, lane departure warning, and back up camera. Ten airbags also come standard to keep you safe in the event of an accident.
