Redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Malibu
ELIZABETH CITY, NC- In an effort to compete better with competing midsize sedans, General Motors has revealed a Redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Malibu! The automaker felt the need to review their thoughts for the 2014 Malibu after the redesigned 2013 model struggled to keep up with competing sedans like the Camry, Fusion, Altima, and Accord.

The Redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Malibu gets a slight facelift with a bolder and sleeker front, improved powertrain and upgraded interior. At first look, you'll notice the Malibu's grille was lowered, although the rear styling remains pretty much the same. On the inside a reconfigured the center console is now longer, with enough storage space for two cell phones and back seat passengers will enjoy an additional 1.25 inches of knee room.  Overall chassis and suspension improvements have been made as well for the 2014 model.

Two new features are available on the 2014 Malibu's standard 2.5 liter, 4-cylinder engine: start-stop technology and variable valve lift control. With start-stop technology, drivers enjoy improved fuel economy since the feature allows the engine to turn off while the car is stopped and restart when the driver presses the accelerator.

Although the automaker spent much of 2012 relaunching the Malibu, GM North America President Mark Reuss says that GM must do it again for the 2014 model. "In this hotly competitive segment, we can't afford to stand still, ever," he said. "We have to move quickly, invest heavily and strive for continuous improvement and perfection."

While most vehicles receive notable upgrades every three years, GM  didn't hesitate to adjust quickly when they realized the vehicle was falling short, and decided to redesign the Malibu just one year after the initial redesign.

The updated 2014 Chevy Malibu produces 196 horsepower and 186 pound-feet torque, slightly down from the 2013's 197 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. The LS, LT and LTZ trim options will continue to be available along with the Malibu Eco. A slight increase in fuel economy will be apparent with the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu: 35 mpg on the highway (an increase of 3%) and 23 mpg in the city (an increase of 5%).

An optional 2-liter turbocharged engine is available on the 2014 model, boasting 259 horsepower, the same as the previous turbo option, and 295 pound-feet of torque, a 14% improvement from its predecessor.

While pricing for the 2014 Chevy Malibu has not yet been released, the 2013 Malibu starts at $22, 805. For more information, stop by our Chevrolet Dealer Serving New Bern, NC, or take a look at our 2013 Chevy Malibu Brochure. We can also help you save with our Chevy Malibu Rebates!
