2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Most Fuel Efficient Sports Car

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Most Fuel Efficient Sports Car
ELIZABETH CITY, NC- We've been continually impressed by the 7th generation Corvette since it's debut at the North American International Auto Show. Most recently, Chevy impressed us when the automaker released the Stingray's confirmed numbers; 455 horsepower, and a 3.8-second 0-60 sprint. But the latest 'Vette gets even better. The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is officially the most fuel efficient sports car!

In previous reports, Chevy expected the 2014 Corvette to achieve more than 26 mpg on the highway. Well, the Stingray's EPA rating has finally been released at 17 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, making the 2014 Corvette Stingray the most fuel efficient sports car since no other vehicle offers more than 455 horsepower with 29 mpg highway!

The 2014 Stingray is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine available with a six-speed automatic or new seven-speed manual transmission. The 29 mpg EPA rating is for the manual transmission, representing an average of the other models. GM reports that the default Tour mode achieves 28 mpg highway, and the Eco mode is capable of 30 mpg highway.

To become the most fuel efficient sports car, the 2014 Stingray improved upon the previous generation Corvette's fuel efficiency by 11%, and also beat out other sports cars. For example, the Porsche 911 Carrera S (400 HP, 27 mpg highway), Jaguar's F-Type S (495 HP, 23 mpg highway), and the BMW Z4 sDrive28 (241 HP, 34 mpg)
