The Five WORST Things That You Could Say To A Police Officer

The Five WORST Things That You Could Say To A Police Officer

Elizabeth City, NC – What are the five WORST things that you could say to a police officer that pulls you over? We’ve got a list of things you should never say if you value your wallet size!

5.) “I know a cop, his name is so-and-so.”: It doesn’t matter who you know, the law is the law and if you try to get out of a ticket by saying you know a police officer then you’re just going to make yourself look bad.  Even if the officer did know whom you were talking about it wouldn’t be legal for him to tear up a ticket just because you know them too.

4.) “Where have you been hiding?”: Not only is this statement insulting, it will never get you out of a ticket.  It implies that they were hiding out and trying to catch you in a trap, when really you were breaking the law, not them.

3.) “I don’t know, why don’t you tell me how fast I was going?”: Never use sarcasm when responding to a police officer, because not only is it impolite, it will land you with a ticket faster than you can get those smart remarks out of your mouth!

2.) “Your salary gets paid by my tax dollars.”:  Besides the obvious reasons for why you should never say this to someone, why not consider whether it’s really worth insulting a police officer for doing his job before you unleash certain doom upon yourself.

1.) “Why didn’t you pull the car in front of me over, it was going faster than I was!”: Complaining to the police officer about how the other person got away with breaking the law but you didn’t is not going to save you any money.  It’s best to just keep quiet and be polite, especially when you know you’ve done something wrong.

You’ll do well to remember the five WORST things that you could say to a police officer, they could save you some extra cash and keep you on the good side of law enforcement officers.  Don’t forget that honesty and politeness are always the best policies when you’re talking to a police officer.  They are people just like you who work to support our society and they deserve respect just like you do.
